Classics: Citizen Kane & The Wizard of OZ

Stan and I have decided to not let the winter get us down so we have been watching movie classics. I researched some of the greatest classic movies and we have started watching them. Our first movie was Citizen Kane. It was fantastic. Our first impression was how amazing all of the sets were. We both said it was way better than now. Although I loved the surprise ending (even though I knew it from the beginning-thanks to a thousand references in different shows) Stan was not so into it and thought that the whole surprise was a little stupid. Oh well I appreciated what it represented. If you are reading this and have no idea what I am talking about I will just say you should totally see the movie. The acting was impressive and the characters had a lot of dimmentions which added to the movie a lot. Their goals and motives were not always clear and could easily be misconstrued which really reflected life and made the movie very relatable. I thought it would be hard to watch since it was all in black and white but it was awesome and kept my attention the entire time! It is certainly a must see!

We have also invited Wyatt into this and I know he can't really see Citizen Kane but Stan and I decided it would be cool to share some Children's Classics with him. So for Wyatt's first Children's Classic we did The Wizard of Oz. I thought for sure since it wasn't super high action and wasn't animated that Wyatt would lose his attention early but that was not the case at all. He loved loved LOVED the Wizard of Oz. He laughed at the Scarecrow and the Lion all the time. And wasn't even scared of that mean ol witch and her monkey men. He sat on my lap the entire time and watched with amazement. He danced to the songs and laughed at the jokes. Way to go Bubs.

Melinda's Wedding

In the morning the Bridal Party met to get ready for the wedding. We all got our hair done and many of the brodesmaids got their make-up done too. It was very nice and they did a great job on all of our hair. Then we went back to Melinda's mommy's house and had some lunch.
The limo showed up around 2 and we all got our stuff ready to head over to Ostertag.

We were all super excited for the wedding and the limo was awesome.

Melinda was as cool as a cucumber. She was ready for her big day.

We all arrived at Ostertag and went upstairs to get dressed. They flowers were all ready so the florist brought up the Bride's bouquet so she could see what it looks like. It was so beauiful and smelled amazing.

Jayden and Brenden looked so cute in their tuxes. Jayden loved to show his off.The bridesmaids doing some finishing touches on their make-up.
While I helped Melinda get into her dress.
And Brendon helped Melinda get ready by putting on her shoes. What a gentleman!Jayden was having a good time playing with my camera and made for a great photographer. Here is Melinda her Mommy, and her sisters-in-law.
A quick toast before the ceremony.

And Melinda takes a last look in the mirror.

Jayden was the Jr. cameraman and stood next to the photographer and captured some great shots. Here is the Bridal Party all ready to go.

The ceremony was beautiful and took place outside under a beautiful tree. It was such a beautiful ceremony that I cried a couple of times. Afterward we all went for pictures while the guests enjoyed hor d'ouveres in the barn.

Then it was time to parrrrrrrrty!

My mommy and daddy ready for some of the yummy dinner.

And of course Stan and I ready for the yummy dinner too.

Chris looked so beautiful in her dress. My mommy and Melinda's mommy talking ab0ut the day.

Stan and I took a romantic walk around Ostertag at night. What a beautiful spot to have a wedding. It was so peaceful and nice.

Melinda and Jason dancing their first dance.
Mr. and Mrs. Jason Schrum on their first dance as husband and wife.

Melinda and her mom share a dance for the Mother-Daughter dance. (I cried here too)

Jason and his mom enjoy the Mother-Son dance.

Melinda and her new Mother-In-Law share a joke.

And then it was time to DANCE!!

And Melinda sure got down!

And so did I

We were all having a good time on the dance floor.
The it was time to cut the cake...yummy red velvet!

The inital feeding went well

But then Melinda got Jason with some frosting.

And it was so good Jason wanted some more.
After the two share a kiss and a laugh it was time to get back to dancing.

I was really missing my Wyatt since I had been away for so long so Stan and I decided we would share one more dance with Melinda (Michael Jackson's Thriller) and then we headed home. It was a beautiful day and a fantastic night. It was everything we used to dream of when we were kids.

Melinda's Bridal Shower

The bride arrives to a big surprise.... This is me before I left (just checking to see if I look oK)--LOL
Chris put together such a nice shower with quite a spread:

The food was very yummy!

After we all ate Melinda started opening her gifts, she had a lot of great stuff
that is really going to look nice in her new house.
A little Buster Bride gift brought smiles to everyone's faces.
Some Oooh la la for the bride!

There were some really fun games like guess how many kisses and hugs are in the jar and guess what is in the box. You had to put your hand in the box and feel what was in there and see if you could identify everything. Bren and I were partners, he put his hand in and told me what to write. We didn't win but I think he did pretty good labeling all those household supplies.

Melinda does her best to figure out what is in the box:

Melinda had A LOT of bow which really kept Heaather busy through the gift opening, here she is hard at work on the bouquetThe finished product, looks very nice:

One of Melinda's bosses wives is making the wedding cake and she made a cake for the Bridal Shower as well, it matches the invitation perfectly. She is not only a very gifted artist but the cake was very yummy too! It was so pretty Melinda didn't want to cut into it and mess it up.

But we all wanted to sample some of the cake so she gave in. I can't wait for the wedding where they are going to have a red velvet layer....YUMM!!!!!

Chris even put together these favors and inside the bags were sugar cookies with a little heart shaped cookie cutter. It was a beautiful shower and a great day. Melinda was so happy and we all had such a great time. Chris, Andy (Jason's sister), and Andrea (Melinda's sister) did such a great job getting everything together. We were all so happy for Melinda and are ready for the BIG DAY!!!!
