Yesterday we celebrate Mother's Day with Stan's mom, dad, and aunt. We went to see the musical 1776 at the Olney Theatre. I had a great time. The actors were fabulous and they had these wonderful singing voices. I really loved the set and the staging...I couldn't be happier. We had excellent seats too. Just close enough to the action but far enough away where we could easily see the entire stage. I hadn't gone to see a play in so long and it was so great to get back to the theatre. I know that Millie really enjoyed it. I could hear her laughing at the jokes and when I looked over at her during the play she had this great big smile on her face. I loved spending that time with Stan's family and it was so nice to do something extra special like that. History and theatre mixed with music count me in! As we all know I love Benjamin Franklin and I have to say the actor who played him did an excellent job. I was very impressed. He hit all those comic elements that Benjamin Franklin has in 1776 and I thought his lines were delivered very well.
After the play we went out to Maggianos for a special Mother's Day dinner. It was fabulous. I had only eaten the family style there once before and I tell you everytime I go I am even more impressed than the last time. I remember at William's birthday party there was this beef meal I wanted to try again but I couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called. Whatever it is it is super fantastic. Last night we ordered the Fried Zuchini which has the world's best breading and the sauce is soooo good! And I got to try the Stuffed Mushrooms which I don't think I had ever tried before. I kept thinking while I was eating it that these mushrooms are sooo going on my new favorite foods list. We ordered two pasta dishes one that was these tubed noodles with a meat sauce and I thought that was really great and the other was a pesto alfredo which was just soo goood and I have to agree with Stan on the choice of Angel hair pasta to go with the sauce it mixed in so well. I requested that we have the chicken parmasean because I seem to remember getting it before and it being good. I have to say I was so glad I asked for that because the breading on that was just delicious. Another thing I was never going to forget about Maggianos is they have spumoni which I had never tried before until I had gone there with Stan, hi dad, and John, and Maggie a couple of years ago. Their spumoni is so good it sings in your head while you eat it! I couldn't stop myself from eating, even as we were getting the check I was eating more bread dipped in this mix of Olive Oil, parmasean cheese, and pepper. Oh it was all so good.
Then I got my very first Mother's Day present. Stan's mom got me the "expecting" figurine from the Willow Tree Collection. I just adore Willow Tree. I love how gentle all their figures look and how they always capture those moments in your life that are special. I was so excited when I got it. In some ways it made the baby feel more real. At this early stage it's kinda easy to just go on with your day and not really pay attention to the pregnancy and then there are those moments where it hits you that you are going to have a baby and it's just the greatest feeling. I think the figure made me feel that. Just seeing her baby bump made me think about how just around the corner is a bump of my own. A great thing is the figure will always hold a two wonderful meanings (1) becoming a mother and (2) my first mother's day.
Everything was so special and perfect. I couldn't have been happier. Now how many people have I made hungry with my details on Maggianos? (I always get so excited by food, I am such a fat chick--I love it!)

That sounds like a really good time and a lot of yummy food. However it didn't make me hungry because I just ate half a Shrimp Scampi California Pizza and then part ice cream and Brownie. Food is exciting. I saw some Willow Tree figurines the other day at Hallmark and I totally thought of you.
